The wire wheel support is designed to help prevent wire wheels from becoming bent or cracked by supporting the center of the wire wheel. On the 1928 to 1935 Ford drums there is a raised area which provides the support for the whire wheels. However when converting you vehicle to hydraulic brakes the 1940 to 1948 Ford drums do not have the raised area to support the wire wheel. This is when you will need this support ring. The bolt pattern on the support ring is 5 x 5-1/2". Sold each.
